Barenaked Update:
How y'all doing? It's been a while. I'm sitting in front of my laptop doing that awkward teenager thing, you know where you stand in front of the mirror and practice how to say "hey" to that girl you're about to ask out on a date? Well I'm doing the same awkward thing, only trying to write a quick blog entry to all you raving fans who are STILL downloading, listening, and loving my songs.
Man, I can't believe you guys - you're awesome. I haven't released a song in months, and still the subscribership to this blog, the listenership, and downloads keep a steady pace, as if you're all waiting for more.
I occasionally google "Barenaked Hurley" and what impresses me is that new folks are only just discovering the music. I read some blogs and some n00b will post: hey have you heard of Barenkaed Hurley? Check them out! I laughed my tits off!" and then some grumpy old flamer will reply "dude, I was into BNH before I was born" and then it degenerates into a "you shut up no YOU shut up no I was here first" thread and... gets locked.
I'm getting threads locked! Woohoo!
So I recently looked up some teasers for season 5 of Lost. And I thought about all those folks listening... how can I NOT keep this thing going? Already, I am trying to match songs to some ideas I've got floating around in my head for the last two seasons. I know I've done Beatles and Billy Joel, and I should probably move onto some newer fodder, so I'll open it up to you: what song would you think fits a BNH parody? I'd LOVE to see something to the tune of Short Skirt/ Long Jacket by Cake. And as "Emily" said something to the tune of America Pie would be fantastic.
I can't wait to hear more BNH.... I would love to hear something on Rousseau, but I am at a loss to thinking what kind of tune that would be...

The season is almost over and since i am still following you through itunes, but with no new updates, i thought maybe my link was broken. I can imagine doing these songs takes some time, but i still hope you can crank one out by the end of the season...only a few episodes are left. Thanks for your previous songs. i still listen to them regularly.
also, i second an american pie song, but maybe as a wrap up for the last season since it has room for so many lyrics.

hey, I hope you're planning on doing another song. Season's over, obviously, but what better way to dull the pain of the hiatus than with a new BNH? I know it's hard work to make this brilliant stuff but I hope you're currently hard at work to make another addition to this brilliant stuff.
Ok - so there's a few for "American Pie". Let me tell you the problem I have with this song. You're in the Karaoke bar and you see it on the list and everyone goes "Ooh! American Pie! I love that song!" And so you put it on, and everyone sings along to the first verse, the chorus, the second verse... then you realize this shit's gonna go on for EIGHT MINUTES and everyone gets bored. Someone pipes up and begins the commentary: "isn't this about Buddy Holly or something?" and then a convo starts about all the things that happened that year, and everyone get introspective - the song's still going, then it gets quiet (everyone knows this bit and might pipe up to sing along) then most of your friends have fallen asleep or found something better to do, and you forget you're out to have a good time, drink some beer, and go see some pole dancing. It is a party stopper. I am the song nazi, saying "NO AMERICAN PIE FOR YOU". Ok, maybe for the uber-finale where I recap the ENTIRE series.
Sadly, I am not clever enough to think of an appropriate song, but I really hope you'll do something new focusing on Ben - for he is awesome. Delighted to see you active again - we really need fun stuff like yours to get us through the hiatus!
